Franco Battiato Fleurs 2
Voto:
Great Antonio! But let me say that in the '90s Franco made other good albums; it’s not all negative notes. Those who criticize Battiato don’t know his early works. Not even remotely. Good review, although for me, the Vuoto is another failure.

Great GiovanniA, lately I've been following you and I see that you always write about interesting albums that aren't covered on Debaser. I'm almost tempted to jump you. I don't really digest Pan Sonic: I listened to them a while ago and didn't go back (not by chance I reviewed the old clunker Kesto with few merits). Cheers!

Not great, I don't even know if I'll be able to listen to it again. Moreover, Fleurs 3 was supposed to conclude the series, as stated by the author...
Enya And Winter Came...

Well, I won't deny it: I'm afraid to listen to it. In some ways, I found A Day Without Rain still satisfying, perhaps a bit too mannered, but well-crafted. Amarantine is already a point of no return, and frankly, I think it ends here. It’s a shame, because in at least a couple of albums, Enya has been remarkable, despite those who see in her music a kitschy trivialization of Celtic music. Grass has written even better, but he deserves the highest praise. I express a personal feeling of civil and moderate disapproval towards those who are nitpicking at the bottom of the barrel to criticize the review, even though I understand the observation of those who do. Let's say that a review may not express the utmost flair and may not be sufficiently concise and rich: does it not at least fulfill the informative purpose typical of such a writing in this case? I would say yes, so I can't understand how one could label as insufficient a review that is nonetheless comprehensive, rich, and competent. Sometimes I read weak justifications; at other times, I don't even see those. It’s a game I don’t understand.

Antimo! You’re back... it’s been since 1984 since you left a comment, you pop in here and don’t even say hello to those who care about you? Let’s hope you don’t wait to leave your next comment until September 2009!

Well, I think that upon rereading myself, I agreed with you. However, you seem a bit harsh in your judgment: in this sense, I've distanced myself, you know.

Psycho is more right than Fest. In the sense that it’s true that Cope gives it to us straight, but we wish we had more books so useful in their educational aim. Krautrock has become almost a consumption phenomenon, especially thanks to this book (just a few days ago I lamented that there's more kraut trash in stores than a good industrial or shoegaze record), but let this commercialization come if before we were forced to live in the dark about such a treasure (I said there's plenty of trash, but a couple of records by Faust and Neu! wipe away all the garbage from the Tangerine Dream of the '80s); certainly he wasn’t the only one nor the first, but he surely was the one who managed to create a commercial alphabet on the matter, and that’s no small feat. That’s why it’s fine that he talks nonsense, it’s fine that he wasn’t the first, it’s fine that he doesn’t mention "Malesch" by Agitation (an amazing record, they were decades ahead), but in any case, hats off to him. I forgive him everything, such is the importance of his endorsement.

As soon as I read "Jesus & Mary Chain" on the homepage, I immediately thought you wrote it, without even looking at the username...! Amazing job, Amazonian, you are one of the very few people here capable of making such a complex range of emotions so tangible.

Yes, of course we like licking Trell. It has a vaguely pasty taste, and on the nose, it evokes mushroomy emotions and hints of spongy berries.
