Discreet album anyway. "Gesualdo da Venosa," the title track, and "Fornicazione" are the happiest episodes; for the rest, there’s a bit too much verbosity, and if I may say, the long finale of "L'esistenza di Dio" is quite pretentious.

But let's be honest: Autechre are just a big hammer to the gonads in the end. For me, their work is admirable up to this album, then with Chiastic they start to go off the rails until the mess is made with the abominable Draft 7.30 (a crazy mess). I wouldn’t recommend the post-Tri Repetae EPs for anyone looking for a point of reconciliation, and a clear example of this is definitely Anvil Vapre. Rather, I suggest Anti, from their early period, and in general the LPs Incunabula and Amber.
