Ajaccio, I'm referring you to my swift response to caz, which you probably didn't have time to read; as for the rest, I will listen to Alberto as soon as possible, orpolina.

Ah, I knew you would reply like that, so I have an easy comeback ready. Aside from the tedious discourse on the circles of C major (but if they are needed to learn how to play, as you said, how can they be self-serving...they have a purpose! :D), I raise my doubt about which came first, the egg or the chicken. Of course, lately it’s better not to bring either into existence, but to make myself understood, I will use the metaphor... where does the need to write a piece called "Nervi scoperti" come from? Does the idea arise first or does the composition give birth to the idea? No one can tell us, Cazzy; personally, I believe that Fariselli started strumming, and from there the idea of the exposed nerves was born, without any overarching project. Moreover, think about it well: genius almost always produces out of enthusiastic inspiration at the piano, on the guitar, or any other instrument at hand; the idea generally comes afterward. You can't tell me that you're more convinced by the notion that Area sat down at the table and said, "Hey, let’s make a nice song about neurosis," and from there Fariselli thought about translating that idea into music...meh. So, no one can tell us if the music or the idea came first; perhaps you have more information, and I defer to you, but if we are left with personal conjectures, no one is more right than the other; we remain in our own opinions: you think of a complexity of the feeling of anger translated into music, I think of the transfiguration in the idea of musical genius (=technicality). I await your updates on this topic, if you know more.

Here we are, my dear, after listening to and dissecting the album you recommended. The impression is obviously that we are witnessing a work of great quality, which particularly confirms the idea I had formed while listening to the works of those who were inevitably part of the 70s prog scene, such as PFM, Picchio dal Pozzo (Ajeje docet), Banco (when I asked you to give me some tips on prog, considering I was starting from scratch, I was indeed referring to foreign progressive: I know a bit about the Italian side :D): musical preparation and skills that would make any Britti of our times pale in comparison (it’s said that he’s a Reinhardt with an acoustic guitar... who knows), while at the same time there's a significant indulgence towards technicality and exhibitionism. I'm not referring to "La Mela di Odessa," where the musical contamination is a well-planned game, but rather to the storm of "nervous" and almost impromptu notes in "Nervi scoperti," with which the marvelous Fariselli seems to craft a musical play without art or purpose, just to make the inattentive listener understand that he knows his stuff, and, if nothing else, he manages it quite well. Now, personal opinion: I don't like technicality IN MUSIC. I prefer to let only the audio spray (it cleans earwax very well) and the sounds torn apart by the exhibitionist technique it may carry reach my ears; this applies only to music, hence the subjectivity of the matter, as, for example, I quite like technicality in art: Baroque is a delight, so it’s likely that one sense, hearing, wants to connect certain sensations, while another, sight, connects to others. Nevertheless, the judgment is relative to some jazz-fusion experiments from the album you yourself mentioned: "Megalopoli" and "Nervi Scoperti," of course, while for the rest, the melodic element is always well-present and distinct, and Stratos' voice is always exhilarating. And now I’m diving into Gentle Giant, taking my time.

Wow, look what I found rummaging through the home disco: this hippie face staring at me with a magnifying glass! It’s called "Deodato 2", and I’ll tell you, Zionaccio, I’ve never listened to it, maybe I should, at least out of curiosity. I promise you, yes yes.

Wow, did I finally make it? :D Anyway, I was referring to the quote where you quoted yourself, but don't worry, today I see you a bit unresponsive, so I'll postpone to tomorrow since I have a few words to say about AREA, just to get you riled up... :) bye druid
