Oh-oh, the masterpiece of Italian pop music, I still have to wait for the usual couple of idiots to say that Battiato is overrated, he's vague, he says nonsense, etc., etc., but these are all nonsense. It is true that Franco created a somewhat "low" commercial product by completely changing registers in a few months (from "L'Egitto prima delle sabbie" to "L'Era del Cinghiale Bianco"), but he was the first to bring cultured music to the ears of Italians, the first to do it in an absolutely totalitarian way, surpassing a million copies sold... yes to the commercialization of culture, not that if Eco sells thousands of books he’s a commercial author! An undisputed milestone.
