There are two types of epic: the "Manowar" style, which is the classic one; and the "Rhapsody" style, which is the symphonic, and the Nightwish are soaked in it. How would you label a song like Dead Gardens? By exclusion, it could be doom, gothic, or death as a genre, but it lacks the slowness (doom) and the growling (death), so it's gothic.
