Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Damn The Torpedoes

Still with these comparisons... what a couple of balls... but since people love them so much... live, Springsteen and Petty are two very different things. One is a Monster, the other an Excellent Performer. I also agree on the media factor that primarily affects sales, which unfortunately also depends on crap like physical appearance: I think Petty is considered "cool" only by me and a few others :)

What kind of musical culture do you have to say that Wilco is better than Petty??? The gentleman in question has released 15 albums (excluding live collections, etc...), of which 1 is mediocre and the rest are all GREAT MUSIC... God preserve him for us... Because comparing him to Dylan or Springsteen is comparing three legends, and then there's personal taste; my preference ranking is: Springsteen, Petty, Dylan. But that doesn't mean I consider this album superior to certain Dylan masterpieces. It's a matter of not just ear but also a lot of Heart... and Tom is, for me, one of the greats.

I have all of Tom Petty's albums including PLAYBACK (6 CDs, 3 of which are only unreleased tracks or alternative versions), and he is the second greatest rocker of the last 40 years...
Tom Petty Highway Companion

Right on the rating and nice review; I completely agree about The Last DJ being the worst album of ours.

Someone compared Angus to Ligabue. Well, in fact, even Lennon’s lyrics talked about love like D'Alessio, ok, good! 3 chords????? what nonsense are you talking about?
