Pre-review:
A record for the depressed and for those who think that music is only about sad and depressing ballads...
Review:
2000: 20 years have passed (a whole) since "Back In Black" and AC/DC release this fantastic album: a record that is rock but also blues, that makes you move your ass from the first to the last note, an album full of riffs... in short, an album that fully encapsulates the philosophy of AC/DC: it's about rock, lustful women, and blues satellites...
The entire band is, as usual, in great shape and listening to the various tracks, it seems as if you have these "young men" of rock'n'roll right in front of you. Among the best tracks, certainly the title track which encapsulates all the power of the album in 3 minutes and 36 seconds, "Safe In New York City", which is a real bomb that explodes in the chorus, while "Satellite Blues" feels like the "Back In Black" of 2000, and "Give It Up" then closes brilliantly with that chorus repeated to the point of exhaustion...
Overall, a great album. A must-have.
P.S. For those who, after listening to the CD, want to deepen their knowledge of AC/DC, I highly recommend the DVD "Stiff Upper Lip Live" even if the setlist includes only one track from the new CD.
The songs sound uninspired, almost as if the entire band had been chained to a table and forced to write the first three riffs that came to mind!
If you see Stiff Upper Lip displayed, I simply advise you to look elsewhere, maybe at other albums that really deserve the purchase.
