Damn, I see this is tough... you used the word "Brocco" and that’s for sure... by "Eccelso" I mean more than excellent... Hendrix and the gang are DEITIES. However, you haven't seen or heard the video I pointed out to you... Springsteen doesn’t just have a powerful voice. He has a beautiful voice, writes great songs, has a great band supporting him, and he is an Artist with a capital A, and that's OBJECTIVE... not from a FAN perspective; a die-hard Springsteen fan wouldn't even talk to you. Although I admire Springsteen a lot, I don't have my eyes, or rather my ears, stuffed with cotton (this is a generic statement not absolutely referring to you... actually, read my comments on AC/DC albums) to say nonsense about him. If you can somehow get it, listen to the song: Where The Bands Are. And if you end up not liking it, think about the fact that for me and Massimo, but not only us obviously, this is a POWERFUL piece, and it’s OBJECTIVELY powerful... I mean, we don’t necessarily need Napalm Death, do we??? Power doesn't necessarily come from the volume of the instruments but also from the blending of the sound in this GREAT song. But make sure to listen to it at high volume... and then we’ll talk (p.s.: make the effort to listen to these two tracks and watch the video of the first one... if you want us to talk about something concrete) Bye!

CAZ I'm sorry but you're changing the cards on the table... if you talk about "everyone has their tastes" then I totally agree with you... but you gave an excellent guitarist the short end of the stick... it's just senseless... as for the term used for the E-STREET BAND as a war machine, I completely agree. To make music you certainly don't necessarily have to be "metalheads" (forgive me the term in its most noble sense...) LISTEN TO THE SONG FROM THE LINK I GAVE YOU... then if you want we can talk about it again... if you say certain things you are definitely more "Absolutist" than I am... trust me, bye!

Interesting album but light years away from Waitsian perfection... I too flipped through the Rock encyclopedia when I was 13, but thankfully the first albums I bought were Who's Next, Born To Run, and Revolver.
If you call MK a fool, I believe you don't know how to appreciate Good music.

Great review and above all a FANTASTIC ALBUM... among my favorites... I have a version with several Bonus Tracks, including a wonderful DREAM (ALL I HAVE TO DO). Has anyone ever heard this version by R.E.M.?

beautiful is the one who praises... you reminded me of that... anyway, my response was to your "not so nice know-it-all".... and then the fact of owning a 1000cd and playing a musical instrument, having listened to Paolo Conte and Tom Waits for the first time at 15... I believe I deserve at least some respect... anyway... my point is: LET ME IN is a wonderful song... which opens up new horizons for REM with its sounds.... I didn't judge you just for one song... but for the list you gave me... of magnificent songs but mainly with "classic REM" sounds. Do you understand me? and I'm sorry if I gave you the impression of being a show-off... I'm not. P.S.: what do you think of these REM songs: Leave, How The West Was Won And Where It Got Us, Be Mine (all from New Adventures in Hi-Fi)?

I believe it’s rather futile to intervene and reiterate concepts that for some are just hot air... I just want to comment on a phrase from CAZ: "Springsteen with the guitar is a hack." So:
1) Keep in mind that the person speaking to you has, in addition to incorporating in the nickname an obvious signal of my great admiration for this Artist... when thinking of great guitarists, I immediately think of these 5 or 6 in a strictly random order (Angus Young/Django Reinhardt/Mark Knopfler/Clapton and obviously J.H. and the ever-mourned SRV). Sure, there are also Jeff Beck, the same George Harrison whom many underestimate, and many others, like Chet Atkins and BB. King certainly... but these are my favorites, although from very different genres. These are the typical Virtuosos of the guitar... unreachable if we want. By the way, I've been playing for a few years... (or at least trying to) a Fender Telecaster... do you know it? In short, I believe I have a sufficient musical background to say that Mr. Springsteen, while not among these, is a great guitarist... whom I think you have never heard play, let alone seen. Watch this video in its entirety... but more importantly, listen to how well he can play his FENDER... if you still hold onto your opinion, then you are irrecoverable. Bye Bye

But who ever talked about a masterpiece? The ones I mentioned are beautiful songs (90s) and the ones you mentioned are nice older songs. One last thing... your Let Me In... we really needed that; it makes me assume that your musical horizons are a bit limited... Let Me In is simply BEAUTIFUL. (period) I'm not a know-it-all... but a FINE CONNOISSEUR... I salute you.
