I recognize myself in your comment NickGhostDrake.

For those who criticize Adams for his inability to condense, they are probably right, but they underestimate him; in fact, this double album seems to be just a preview of two more albums that will be released soon: one this summer which should be titled "September" and the other in the fall produced by Ethan Jones, which should be the sequel to the acclaimed Gold.

Now you can find Love Is Hell in its entirety; it no longer makes sense to talk about the first and second parts. The record label had refused to release it, so Adams had reached an agreement to put it out in the form of two limited edition EPs. Only after increasing demand and significant critical acclaim did Lost Highway decide to publish it.

At first, I was a bit taken aback too.

I'll give Hal another chance; time can change opinions sometimes.

I don't expect everyone to like Ryan, actually... Hal, are you perhaps referring to Heartbreaker? Adams' first solo album?

As usual, there are people who don't understand a damn thing! There's no contradiction in my comments because Dylan has never cloned an album, but what are you saying, dear Anonymous? Paying tribute to other artists by interpreting other songs is a different matter. Dylan himself, with Good As I Been To You and World Gone Wrong (and even with his first record), created art, in addition to a great cultural operation of rediscovering the roots of American music, just like Garcia did with Shady Grove (there are countless examples). But this is another matter; this is cloning, the work of art (that of De Andrè, in which everything is present, as the Bluvertigo sang) has been cloned. I wonder why, that's all. No one is questioning the love Morgan has for music or all the work he has done (but what importance does all that have?) yet an artist (not a musician, mind you) who is not mediocre, and who should be in the prime of his maturity and prolificacy, would have no interest in remaking an already existing, well-known, and virtually perfect album. Or should we now expect Beck to remake The Freewheelin', or Coldplay to remake Selling England by The Pound and so on? Please no, let’s not kill music. Let’s respect art, let’s strive to break down superficiality.

This is an honest record, I agree with you Hal, but unlike you, I think that nowadays making an honest record is a rarity. For this reason alone, it deserves to be taken into consideration. As for the rest, I know you're not a fan of Adams, just like many others... probably because Adams is arrogant and unpleasant, which puts a lot of people off... but objectively, he is not one of the many, and he has already amply proven that.

Ryan Adams doesn't mimic anyone, dear anonymous. Maybe Morgan should learn from artists like this; his is a true love for music, he doesn't need to clone an album. Just as this is a tribute to the country rock of the 70s, Love is Hell was a tribute to the music of the Smiths and Morrissey.

I imagine that Walter Benjamin would agree with me. The "decline of the aura"!
