a truly extraordinary album, but you’re mistaken to say that Avalanche was transformed by Cave from subtle to something else (it’s a very respectful cover), because if you know Cohen’s original version, you’d realize there’s nothing subtle about it; in fact, it’s much more venomous, fierce, and icy than Cave's.

An intense, poetic, and poignant album.

I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You is a country ballad. The entire album is influenced by this genre (of course, not only this genre), but from the first to the last of his albums (chronologically speaking), country and blues are always the two most evident points of reference.

Monumental album, my favorite by the Stones.

A challenging album, but always full of charm.

The more I listen to this album, the more it captures my attention; there isn't a song out of place, and thanks to the always fresh and inviting melodies, the whole record flows quickly and effortlessly. Among the standout tracks are the enveloping "Sweet Illusion," "Meadowlake Street" (which could have been written by a blessed Neil Young), the romantic and heartfelt country of "When Will You Come Back Home," the haunting melodies of "Now That You’re Gone," and "How Do You Keep Love Alive" from the first album. In the second one, "Let It Ride" stands out, where country takes on Lynchian shades, the fragile ballad "Rosebud" (sort of a modern "Blackbird"), the disconsolate ballad "Dance All Night," and the disarming melodic beauty of "Friends." For now, in my opinion, "Cold Roses" is the best album of the year.

I've seen Wenders', Eastwood's, Scorsese's, and this one. The one I liked the most is Eastwood's. Scorsese disappointed me, just like Wenders did. Overall, I didn't enjoy this series of documentaries very much; perhaps I was expecting a lot more. I found the whole operation rather dull. I hope that Scorsese, with the documentary he's finishing on Dylan, does something more sparkling and vibrant, and not a long obituary on something that isn't actually dead, as he did with the blues.
