Well... let's just say that the Hormonauts have many fewer years behind them than the Subsonica... and they make a genre that is much less "commercial," from a certain point of view...

Actually, I'm from Vicenza. ^_^ In any case, the liters of beer inspire me... I don't mean from Manowar as a band... I mean from the genre of Manowar. Come on, it’s undeniable... they were the first to create a certain type of orchestrated music (the orchestra underneath was still missing, though...), lyrics inspired by fantasy, the audience envisioned as an army... :p

So... it's undeniable that Doom and Stoner were invented by Sabbath... and let's leave it at that. :p then there was a further leap with Candlemas and others who introduced instruments that had nothing to do with hard rock (strings and winds, especially). Dio who invented power? O_o perhaps as a symbolism... but I would say that power was born from a rib of epic... so from Manowar.

The response to the Hormonauts' lack of international success is: "they are Italian."

I’ll add one thing: he probably made the film with his own money and leveraging his connections (I remember that during the interview he said he now owes favors to hundreds of people who collaborated on the film just for the glory ;)) and then he managed to "place" the film on RAI.

These are information that I took directly from the interview with De Maria included in the DVD.

"They have no fear of being trapped in a genre, and they let themselves be influenced without hesitation"... um... could someone take away the "without hesitation"? ^_^

But you know I know Sabbath... and I agree with you that they are dark and "sick" with Osbourne. ^_^ But have you ever listened to any of R.J. Dio's solo work? For example, I don't know, Intermission? If that isn't doom... then the B.S. with Dio being terrible is another story. ;) And I can't stand doom either.

I believe we could go on discussing Black Sabbath for years. :) They have influenced every branch of hard rock and metal. In general, though, stoner refers to the Ozzy Osbourne era of Black Sabbath (more psychedelic), while doom refers to the Ronnie James Dio era (more... um... "dark").

Uhm... honestly, it seems to me that the stoner was invented by a certain Ozzy Osbourne and a small English group called Black Sabbath... ;) Aside from that, Matt Pike is and will always be a great of hard rock and metal. And it still bothers me a lot that I didn't get to see High On Fire... and also Moostachy...
