I didn't know about Arthur's cover by The Smiths, see in the end we crossed paths ;) It was a pleasure to discuss with you.

In my opinion, we are a bit out of sync. I believe that, overall, Ryan Adams is a POP artist who heavily draws from country, but ultimately, despite his country background and taste, he creates very POP things like the songs I mentioned. His POP style often carries over into live performances, like when he sings OASIS, for example. So for me, an artist who spans from country to pop for various reasons is more of a pop artist than a country artist. Okay? An artist who, in my opinion, truly does alternative country like it's meant to be is Joseph Arthur, and I would like to know what you think. Bye.

And I’ll add that when you make a country album, then a pop one, then a hybrid one, in my opinion, you’re not a country artist but you’re a pop artist, and that’s not an offense!!!

Pop, this unknown. Why does everyone take POP as an insult? Like "son of a bitch." First of all, I’m referring to Love Is Hell which, for me, I’ve already said, is a stunning album, but as a genre, I think it’s POP. Especially because, and you say this too, Adams plays with various genres, takes from everywhere, doesn’t condense and therefore makes pop. Just because he takes on a country formation doesn’t mean he becomes country himself. Let’s talk after you’ve listened to Avalanche, a beautiful song but it sounds like it was made by Elton John. City Rain, City Streets? Fuck the universe, it sounds like Bono from U2. I don’t see all this country, a country album for sure wouldn’t sell the copies of Love Is Hell.
