THE REVIEW

Another simple album. Heck, I like simplicity, and what about you? Speaking of which, I want to talk about Guster Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum.

Folk is based on simplicity, folk is genuine because it is simple Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum. I don't know how to explain it: do you know that sense of cleanliness, like the smell of something very clean? For instance: pillowcases washed, but not only washed, also ironed... Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum or right after you brush your teeth in the morning after a tough night; or rather when you brush your teeth while showering, spending those 10 minutes scrubbing everything away. That clean feeling that puts you at peace with yourself... well, that's the sensation of listening to this album. Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum

In Keep it together, there are 13 songs, each more beautiful than the last and each simpler than the last. They are very famous in the USA, a bit less in Europe; they are three, from Boston, young, and this is their fourth work. With these 13 songs, they play with music by choosing the more complicated path: simplicity. Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum

The voice of the singer Adam Gardner, NOW I'M SAYING IT HOLD ON TIGHT!!: reminds me of Battisti, at certain moments it's just the same with that sweet tone, and in its own way, simple and clear. But Guster also reminds me of Michael Stipe and R.E.M.'s harmonies. The choirs, the guitars, but above all the use of bongos accompany lyrics from another time. Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum

Just read the titles: Homecoming King (back to Massachuttes); Ramona; Diane; Keep it together, Jesus on the Radio. Among the songs, I also point out long way down, which is also the most sophisticated song. Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum

In the end, the result is a global folk that therefore becomes pop but a pop that smells of (global) culture and that evokes many beautiful things in your mind, making you travel slowly within the music but with a certain respect and reverence towards the past.

When we all finally washed ashore
It was clear there was no one else around
We declared a national holiday
A chance to build it from the ground
So far away from everyone
and everything starts today
Keep it together
Can we keep it together
We're singing a new song now
and everything starts today

Simple, right? Dum-du-Dum Dum-du-Dum
