And here’s the catch. Gosh, I don’t have that album. I remember a friend of mine had it on cassette, and I also remember that I kinda liked it, even if it seemed very, very easy. I also recall that I was eighteen or so. I’ll have to get it.

Unfortunately, I don't have this album by the Afterhours, but I suppose it's just as you say. The problem is that the MV album is all spoken word. I've tried several times to listen to it again, but there's no way around it. I just can't do it.

Since no one liked the review of the MV, I hope at least I conveyed the idea, to someone who has never listened to them, of the kind of (non) music they make. I won’t discuss the lyrics, but the music is nonexistent.

Just go read the review and some comments, and you'll realize it. If you like the MVs, maybe you'll get fired up too. By the way, it has an intro very similar to your review.

In fact, I don’t know what specific scenarios the future of music consumption will present to us. I certainly predict that music stores have a limited time left. The few that remain survive thanks to the tacky names in the charts, and if they dare to take on something indie, it often ends up sitting on their shelves 90% of the time. When I go around the shops, I often leave empty-handed, or if I buy something, it’s never what I was actually looking for. For now, the internet comes to our rescue, but I don’t know what the future holds for us. Music, as we understood it in the seventies and eighties, is now at dusk. I don't believe there are 15- to 20-year-olds buying records anymore.

It was released last spring. I don’t think it’s available in our local stores as I can only find it through import. But the internet comes to our rescue. Even the previous "Wiser," as ZiOn rightly points out, operates on these levels. It's trip-hop, so it’s recommended only for those who appreciate this genre.

If you give me the address, I’ll send you a photocopy of the page where you can see that "La voce del padrone" is among the top twenty titles. Or if you’d like to bet a palace on it, I’m at your disposal.

I’ll say another one: there were also the Massimo Volume with "Da Qui", an album that I reviewed on these pages and that has stirred the most poisonous ire.

No, we're not on the same page. When it comes to subjective matters, of course, everyone can express their opinion and remain convinced of it. But when it comes to black and white, I consider myself a rather precise and punctual person, and I rarely make mistakes. I'm absolutely sure that in my first twenty of Battisti there was "Emozioni" and in Battiato, there was "La voce del padrone." In the back ranks, Battisti had "Il mio canto libero," and Battiato (it seems to me the only one who had three titles mentioned) had "Sulle corde di aries" and "Gommalacca." Meanwhile, "Il nostro caro angelo," "Don Giovanni," and "L'era del cinghiale bianco" weren't mentioned at all. I'm very sure of what I'm saying. Also, since I'm in an encyclopedic mood, I’ll tell you that for the CSI, they had "Ko de mondo," for the Marlene Kuntz, "Catartica," for Lucio Dalla, "Lucio Dalla (the one with L'anno che verrà)," and for Giorgio Gaber, "Far finta di essere sani" (but I guarantee 90% on this last title). While I'm at it, I'll tell you that for Vasco Rossi, there was "Siamo solo noi," and for Zucchero, "Blue's." Claudio Baglioni, Renato Zero, Antonello Venditti, and Pooh were not listed among the hundred: just to name a few big names that, according to them, never released noteworthy records. Anyway, on the Mucchio website, it's a magazine you can still recover for the modest price of €10. It's issue number 8 from December 2002. I hope I’m not becoming a bore with this story. But living among numbers every day, I can't help but be drawn to them.

But I have this album, and moreover, it’s on vinyl. However, it’s been such a long time since I last listened to it that I can’t express myself fully. I do remember one rather funny thing about it: one evening many years ago, while inviting a friend to see my record collection (which, to tell the truth, was a bit meager back then), he bluntly remarked about this album with a Tuscan accent, ā€œC'hai anche Robert Wyatt?!?...è poo peso sà...ā€. And ever since then, every time I see him, I think of that phrase, and maybe there’s a bit of truth to it. Anyway, Socrates, the new album by Badly Drawn Boy has come out; what do you say?
