John Cougar Mellencamp Scarecrow

Wow, there wasn't even a review of John Cougar on Debaser. I had never noticed that before. I think you picked the best one, even though I also appreciate The Lonesome Jubilee and Big Daddy. Keep making records, "the puma." He just released a fresh one, but I haven't followed him in about fifteen years. Good references and great review.

The new work has been released but no one seems to care. Sigh!

Excuse me for butting in, but I find Try Whistling This by the one and only Neil Finn absolutely delightful. On the other hand, the following One Nil, also by Neil Finn, doesn’t convince me.

I'm buying it, no doubt about it. I had seen it was released but, being rather skeptical about reunions and comebacks, I had promised myself to wait a bit and read something about it. Not that the Finn brothers had completely lost touch, but bringing back the old title made me think it was just a marketing operation. I also recommend the work by Finn's Brothers (I think it was from 2002). It's still them.

I really liked it a lot. Better than Funeral. In fact, Ocean Of Noise and My Body Is A Cage are beautiful, but Invention is no joke either. Honestly, I don't understand what more you could ask from a pop rock band in 2007.

If we more or less agreed on the Shins, this time I must disagree. I've only listened to Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra... My God, it feels like a psychiatric session. It can happen.

You're right, it's the opposite. Sometimes I travel in time, or more simply, I'm distracted. In short, I meant to say that I find similarities between Bright Eyes and Neutral Milk Hotel. Now it's better. But Conor Oberst is good, you can't just dismiss him like that, come on!

I've been listening to this record for three days now, and I must say I find myself more or less in tune with the reviewer. Among the sources of inspiration, I can detect the same oblique and off-kilter style of Bright Eyes a.k.a. Conor Oberst. Perhaps at times, it’s a bit too moody as well.

Every now and then, I remember certain albums because I see them passing by. I would need to dust off some memories even though I recall the subsequent Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie more clearly. Maybe I liked them more.

The review can also be funny and ironic, but the record in question is, in my humble opinion, not salvageable even in a trash context. They were disgusting back then (I was there, I remember them, and they are almost my fellow townsmen) and they are disgusting today. Just like Giardino Dei Semplici, Bottega Dell'Arte, Santo California, etc. No, it can’t be done.
