Odradek, did you really input 1,100 records, one by one? And do you have exactly 1,100, or did you round it off? I took a quick look at it; even though the layout given by the editors could use quite a bit of improvement. To look through 1,100 records takes an hour. And for heaven's sake! You seem a bit lacking on Lucio Battisti.

Charming review (to put it in Moratti’s words). After the single "Lovely Head," I expected something a bit more substantial for the long haul. The album is good but not great. It’s a shame that the two subsequent works are truly two piles of rubbish.

The best track (which doesn't surpass the original) is the cover by Les Negresses Vertes. Half disappointment.

Maybe they should listen to it on the iPod. Fourteen-year-olds listen to music on their phones too. In fact, listening to music, I’m not saying on the iPod which is absurd, but on a supermarket sound system versus a system worth thousands of euros, there’s a difference. Anyway, Gigi D’Alessio is still crap even on the latter, just to put it out there. But a solo by Jan Anderson on the flute... well! there’s some difference (enormous) for sure. @Giubbo, sorry. That’s not what I meant.

I completely agree with Giubbo. You buy a CD every three months and consider yourself a loyal customer? And I align with Giubbo on everything else too. But you know, Giubbo, that once I found two CDs inside one package? Since that time, I've always been afraid of finding one empty like it happened to you. Maybe your missing CD was the one I had a double of? In a store, you can display something like that, and maybe they'll listen to you and change the disc. If you buy online, I think it’s a mess.

When Mucchio was a weekly, I was subscribed too, mainly for three reasons: 1) The subscription cost was very appealing, I think you saved about 40% off the cover price, 2) I didn't feel like going to the newsstand every week risking to miss an issue, 3) Every two months they'd attach a cd-compilation with the latest releases (oh god, sometimes it was better if they didn’t attach anything, given all the junk they included). Since it became a monthly, I buy it at the newsstand. But I like it little. It has become a great bazaar. They talk about everything and the purely musical part suffers. To be honest, I find myself little in the musical section as well. If I look at the records I buy, sometimes they don't even review them. And those that they point out as masterpieces are not at all for me (one at random, the latest by Wilco). The more mainstream (as you say) Rosckstar, years ago, was a magazine I identified with much more. Now it’s half trash. I’ve tried others, almost all of them, but honestly none satisfy me fully. As for the news on debaser, allow me to express some doubts. It’s a nice showcase and a good way to talk and compare, but many news items go silent here.
Regarding David Sylvian: with Japan he was very immature and to be fair, the early records are almost unpresentable. The leap forward happened with the last two works. His solo career, in my view, is much more substantial and intense. The A-side (and yes, I have the vinyl) of Brilliant Trees is something unimaginable. A punch in the stomach. Immortal! But it must be a feeling that’s all mine because others mention Gone To Earth and you mention Secrets Of The Beehive. In any case, three masterpieces. Bye.

I think I touched a nerve with you. But I like it when someone goes on about something they love, especially when it comes to music. I have a couple of questions out of pure personal curiosity. Do you read any music magazines? (I've noticed that almost no one around here reads about music, not that it's a mark against them, but one risks getting stuck in their own positions). And then, assuming you know him (I say this because, unfortunately, I've encountered people who don't even know who he is), do you like David Sylvian?

The beautiful Tori, on the other hand, has always left me feeling a bit confused. Great potential, but inconsistent results. The debut album is very beautiful. You seem literally captivated by her. Are you attracted to the physical side?

Speak For Yourself is somewhat of a continuation of Details. I slightly prefer the latter. Perhaps I was confusing the review of Imogen Heap (of which there are three) with that of Frou Frou (which doesn’t exist).
