Don't generalize. I was talking about Cannibal Corpse and many brutal bands, but often death metal is serious; if you look at the latest Death, they don't have any gore themes at all, just like many other bands. Anyway, "not serious" doesn't mean it's music you have to listen to just to waste evenings in stupidity; I listen to it at home alone too... I don't see anything wrong with that! :-) We can't only listen to engaged music; music is beautiful precisely because it's diverse...

I can't wait for it to be released, the new... Anyway, for once I wanted to write a non-review, and this seemed like the perfect album, way too much!! :-) I'm really glad you liked it...

Ajeje, that's exactly the point, you're looking for the "deep concept," when instead that concept doesn't exist, and the group knows this very well... That's exactly what I've said, gore shouldn't be taken seriously, do you understand? Then if we talk from a musical standpoint, it's simply a matter of taste, nothing more, nothing less! :-) Anyway, it's not like it takes much to love that masterpiece, Heroin, eh... amazing Velvet...

Joey Jordison is good, nothing more. I'm sorry he went off with the Muderdools (not bad, but in my opinion unnecessary). Not to mention that Slipknot has three percussionists, and the rhythm section, while beautiful and fast, could overall be much more extreme considering that there are four percussionists in the band. Reno Killerich plays 300 times more extreme, but he's just one.

The album you mentioned, I don't even know it, to be honest... Try listening to Gallery Of Suicide if you like death metal. As for Deicide, I won't comment because they seem like assholes to me too, but I don't dislike them musically; I just don't listen to them much, I prefer other things. Lastly, when I talk about irony, I wasn't necessarily referring to these two bands, and anyway, the beauty of gore is that it's not a theme to be taken seriously. Not all bands enjoy being serious with their music; the important thing (especially since music is so varied) is to get into the mindset of a band before listening to them... For example, there was a band that took gore seriously, Desecration. Well, they ended up in jail, and in my opinion, they deserved it. Take it up with those people, not with Cannibal, who have never harmed anyone, simply expressing their passion through (good) music. Hi, tomorrow I have my first exam rehearsal!! :-O

Why shouldn’t I respond? If I don’t seem stupid to you, it might be because it’s apparently not true that if someone occasionally puts on a Cannibal Corpse record, they are automatically an obsessed teenager... You say their music seems like a jumble of clichés and ridiculous commonplaces, I say they were among the first to use those clichés, so if anything, your argument should be directed at later bands that are truly devoid of ideas (there are tons of them, think of the Mutilation, what a useless band!!!). Labeling a genre is destructive. We need to distinguish between those who have something to say and those who don’t, within a genre. Cannibal Corpse are people like everyone else, who love music (Jack Owen has ended up dedicating himself to his Adrift) and who are passionate about horror films, merging this passion with their love for music. Do horror film directors get thrown in jail? Why should they do it with Cannibal? There’s nothing wrong with it. In my opinion, it’s more important to think about the music in itself than about these things, which, all in all, are secondary aspects. It’s logical that if you don’t like their music, you wouldn’t go listen to them, nothing strange about that. You say you listen to the extreme, but I don’t understand your aversion to this group. You don’t relate to their style at all, okay, neither do I, so what? But I still put them on sometimes. Maybe you take too seriously the imagery that surrounds them, you should let go of the prejudices.

That's what I think. Airone's beliefs are sacrosanct, but that doesn't mean they have to be valid for everyone.

What a record, a masterpiece of modern thrash. As long as Sodom remain in Germany, American thrash will have to aim high.

X ajeje: I really like the Swans! I've been drawn to Suicide for a long time, but unfortunately I haven't managed to get anything yet... As I already told you, I don't like Cannibal for their "dark side" (what nonsense!), or for the lyrics. However, it seems to me that you don't grasp the irony that many bands use splatter for, or the desire for catharsis that's inherent in death metal. These are, in any case, issues that have nothing to do with the music. I want to clarify that I'm not crazy about Cannibal at all, yet I consider them a very important band in the death metal scene, and quite musically valid, at least regarding albums like Gallery Of Suicide. And they won a platinum record, which isn't easy for a death metal band. They certainly didn't have the support of MTV like Marilyn Manson. If you don't like death metal, it's logical that you wouldn't like Cannibal either, but don't judge them by their lyrics! Gore is a central theme in brutal death, but they are completely normal people. We're not talking about Burzum here, who is genuinely unwell. Bye.
