Julian Schnabel Basquiat
Voto:
I quite like Basquiat; I find a desperate and aggressive vitality in his paintings, a scathing invective against the established order. However, I don't know him well and have never read opinions from those in the know. On the other hand, Warhol doesn't excite me much on an aesthetic level, but I find his philosophy and thinking truly fundamental. Andy was a sharp observer of his time and represented it with relentless mechanical precision, somehow managing to appear prophetic.

not the best of Bowie, for that there's already Low.

Damn Odra, well done! But here you are way off my tastes... at most in this chamber-folk direction I can allow myself a listen to the Penguin Café Orchestra because it’s a delightful classic, but new stuff just doesn’t attract me at all. And then, you know how it is... they just reissued Concept1 by Hawtin and now who’s getting out of the tunnel anymore?!

I completely disagree. I always enjoy listening to this album again, and I like it even more than Kaleidoscope. Tracks like Milkshake (which competes in its own territory with Missy Elliot), the ska-r'n'b of Trick Me (one of the best summer hits), the beautiful duet with her husband Nas (a true club anthem), and Millionaire (a precious apocrypha of Prince) elevate an album that is otherwise very much by the books, but far from bad. I agree with the criticism of Saadiq, who here contributes little compared to his usual.

Honestly, I've always thought that Poletti's films with Ciccio and Franco are terrible. That said, I disgust you because you are a small person, or at least that’s how you behave on this site. I've told you many times: it’s undeniable that you have a vast cinematic knowledge, but at the same time, you are a victim of an enormous amount of prejudices. And this last thing is certainly worse than the first: you are incapable of having your own idea; you speak based on hearsay. And I’m not referring to your tastes in films, but to what you say about young people, Italians, and the people who frequent this site (which by the way you do in a spasmodic manner, so you don’t seem the most suited to criticize)... In short, it’s a bit like when you say you don’t go to the cinema because it’s full of hordes of shouting kids: nonsense.

Hey look, this album is contemporary to the ATR... the coordinates are similar, but less influenced in terms of sound by extreme rock. If you're interested, let me know and I'll send you a private message...

Poletti, damn it, you're right. But please, don't always be so self-righteous. Okay?
