I completely agree with Bartle and reassure him that Cronenberg got involved in the project only later on. I would add that perhaps the reflection of this film is much more present (and profound) than in the subsequent (and stylistically perfect) La Promessa Dell'Assassino. This film reveals itself in its unfolding as extremely imperfect; it almost feels like something is missing (but that something is undefined); and it is precisely this imperfection that makes it so captivating. PS: great little page.
