Gucci, if you’re referring to the image, then I’ll close the discussion. You’re not wrong about that, but the Stones are now just an image, and it doesn’t even make sense to talk about their music (which, as someone said, was old almost thirty years ago: let’s think together about an album like Some Girls—good for sure, but how does it compare to the more or less contemporary Marquee Moon?). I would say that the SY don’t give a damn about image, and for this reason alone, they deserve more respect. Regarding the relevance of sound, I agree with Easy: it’s not the RS that are ahead and contemporary, but rather the mainstream rock scene (and fake indie) that is primarily (and especially lately) lagging behind and quite anachronistic. For this reason, listening to DN even now still feels like pure avant-garde, almost science fiction.

I recently listened to the latest album by SY and I thought it was a good album, not a masterpiece and clearly less intense, but then again, if they kept serving up the same old dish, they would be ridiculous. Ridiculous just like the RS: they may be energetic, but they haven't changed a thing from the sound of forty years ago, even in the latest A Bigger Bang; they continue to offer the same things without having NOTHING to say. And this, in my opinion, is something that SY has not lost along the way, proving to be as intelligent as always. @Gucci: where have the Stones reinvented themselves?
