I saw them together with La Macina in Milan, really beautiful... La Macina was singing the gang's songs and they were doing those of La Macina, and every now and then the Severinis would launch into punk rock pieces... great memories... Regarding Fabio's question about MCR: in my opinion, the gang's songs are definitely more challenging than those of MCR, both for the politicized lyrics and the music... MCR chases the trends of the time a bit more... years ago, Cisco told me before one of his concert in Milan that the Gang are among his all-time favorite Italian bands... if he says so.

...maximum respect for the Severini brothers, poets and always behind the barricades to defend us from the old dynasty, from the small and fierce new bourgeoisie... by the way, they are playing tonight around Milan, I think in Cusano but I'm not entirely sure, just what I need to lift me up from the recent "packages" of live shows I've seen.

I want to clarify that "all this evilness I don't see" was referring to the music, not the people... every time I read about them, it's always about their wicked music, but I don't perceive it that way... as for "watching," you're right, during a concert I also look at who is playing, I try to connect with them; otherwise, I’d stay home and listen to the album. I have no prejudices against those who dress up; for example, in the early '90s I saw a concert by Christian Death, and I assure you it was an impressive concert (even though the genre doesn't thrill me), or the Virgin Prunes in the late '80s, that was another shock concert... things that were too far from the boredom I felt with Sunn. Anyway, this is just my opinion about Sunn; that doesn't mean mine is an absolute truth. That's how I see it, and if you had an unforgettable concert, I'm happy for you; there’s no need to argue about it...

...come on, he'll send you thanks if you buy the album; that's a feature you can activate from your silly email client, it's called an auto-responder. I'll explain how it works later.. heh heh you ordered the CDs and thought he would thank you personally, maybe with a nice Sabbatic ritual... the problem is I like their music on disc too, but live I look for other things, maybe a bit of creativity...and honestly, I don't see all this wickedness... you have much more when you make your racist and sexist speeches, or those prohibitionist ones about drugs... have you ever thought about making an album? Of course, no music, just your speech, minimal at best (especially for the concepts), that would indeed be terrible... talk about the music of Sunn!

1°- I don't care if they can play, I think I've already told you how I feel about it. To explain myself better: I've seen bands like Officine Swarz or Einsturzende Neubauten live, and I never wondered if they could play or not; I wasn't looking for songs, yet I was mesmerized by what came out of their performances. With SUNN, this didn't happen, that's all. I don't care if they do ambient psychedelia or if they're evil (brrr), I only care about what I experience while listening to them.
2°- The comparison with the Cramps is obviously not a real comparison, just an observation: there are those who bore me with overpowering bass and those who don’t even use bass yet manage to involve you and make you jump uncontrollably. Of course, they go in different directions (thankfully) and are incomparable.
3°- Three basses is a figure of speech; I could have said ten, and it would have been the same. It's also true that they kept making me drink, so maybe I really did see three basses.
4° - I believe that SUNN is a band that is very trendy right now. In my opinion, we’ll talk about them again in ten years; then we might give them a more realistic value. Right now, if their goal is just to produce a terrible sound, I couldn't care less...by the way, I can do that just fine when I'm in the bathtub and I even make bubbles...

Yes, thankfully he’s not their singer; rather than someone like that, I prefer Oxa... As for the tunics, what can I say? They made me laugh. I like simple people who get on stage and pour their heart out with their instruments, not tunics... By the way, one bassist kept doing some hand movements like Jesus, but for crying out loud, just play instead of acting like a clown... If I wanted to see a clown, I’d watch Marilyn Manson or Slipknot, they cost more but deliver more. Musically speaking, I like the idea of using three basses, but if one keeps the same chord for 45 minutes, it drives me crazy; if the basses "explore," then bring on the demon-possessed fanatics... I only have the last SUNN album, which I do listen to at times, but I expect much more live... And to think that the CRAMPS played without a bass, but these mystical idiots get paid so much...

That night, watching the EARTH, I understood why poor Kurt committed suicide; he must have seen one of their concerts... 25 years of that guy playing the same (few) notes at the same speed, occasionally looking up and daring to glance at the audience... a true stage animal... a dose of brown sugar wouldn't have had the same effect. As for the SUNN, God, when I saw that idiot of a singer, I lost my mind; it was Carnival, okay for the Franciscan outfits, but the one with the clown makeup is really too much... if they weren't so juvenile, I might have listened to them... I'll gladly leave these losers to you.

I respond to the issue raised by Punisher: "Did FORTIS really need to tarnish his image in a reality show?"
Try to think for just a second—an artist, to do what they truly want, needs money, a lot of money, perhaps because what they do is followed by a minority and isn't enough to survive. At this point, in comes the slimy, cocaine-addicted manager who offers them a spot on a reality show for a boatload of cash, money that would allow them to make an album exactly how they want it, without too many compromises. Wouldn’t we do the same? They are certainly not the first nor the last to act this way... and let's stop idealizing these people. One can make great music and yet as a person be worth nothing, but that's another discussion.
