It's the same fertile ground that gave rise to punk in England. In the 60s, the migration from Caribbean countries to the outskirts of English cities began, masses of sub-proletarian people of different nationalities who culturally merged. Ska bands created music that seemed lighter, with lyrics aware of the political situation borrowed from punk. In reality, in this context, various generations of rebellious youths formed, including mods and skins (who specifically claimed the difference between their "white culture and the Jamaican black culture). What the Skatalites started was continued by historic groups like the Specials, Selecter, Skinheads, Rudies, and in the 80s, The Trojans, Deltones, Potato 5, in defiance of those who continue to criticize the emptiness of the 80s!!!
