Duane, close that sewer... an absolute masterpiece... rough review, but you’re justified... I devoured it for quite a while... then I have to admit that their most "artistic" album is definitely "Sad Wings Of Destiny" which I own in its original form... the lyrics of Painkiller are quite weak, almost at the level of the bovine and ignorant epicness of Manowar, but the riffs and solos especially have an insane drive... Halford's voice is inhuman... the bass is essential as usual... Scott Travis is a rhythmic machine... on a scale from 1 to 9.5, I would give it a 9... 10 doesn’t exist... I reserve a 9.5 for a maximum of 5 albums... to give you an idea in the metal scene, it’s definitely one of the 10 best and most representative albums...

What a panic-inducing album... there’s something that doesn’t fully convince me every now and then... but it has an immediacy that turns out to be not a flaw but an asset... more immediate than the albums of the past maybe (which were also quite immediate for being prog albums) yet it holds up wonderfully in comparison... seasoned with two exceptional slow tracks and prog-power outbursts that wink at thrash with a vocal style that’s both theatrical and sharp, melodic in the different sections... truly beautiful starting from the artwork...

It's a beautiful song always, even if I haven't listened to it in ages... Dido's CDs are perfect when you want to be a romantic with a woman... I don’t regret my past listens; it wouldn’t make sense... I started really listening to music with Eminem, and if I now enjoy the Mahavishnu Orchestra, I owe that to him too...

The Queensryche weren't doing prog in '83, dear, and their true first prog album is from '94... Promised Land... Warning, Rage For Order, Operation Mindcrime, Empire... they only have the lyrics which are exceptional... the technique is perfectly balanced... but the structures are too linear to be considered prog... maybe Experimental Heavy Metal or Proto-Progressive Metal... but not Progressive Metal in the purest sense... the crown goes to Fate's Warning and then to Dream Theater... don't get me wrong, I love Queensryche and I'd prefer to see their work reviewed over this redundancy...
