The Summoning? Crude art...
Threshold Dead Reckoning

In total disagreement...a remarkable album...
Amorphis Silent Waters

Silent Waters (I'm talking about the LP) is a very pleasant album that I still need to delve into to understand its beauty...even though Weaving The Incarnation seems like an attempt to exemplify Ghost Of Perdition by Opeth...
King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King

One of my 5 favorite albums...I have to choose the other 4, but this one is definitely on the list...pure poetry...
Children Of Bodom Follow The Reaper
Voto:
The first three albums by Bodom are all stunning...original...I don't like your review...a review of a Bodom album should flow quickly just like when you're listening to the album itself...personally, it's the one I like the least among the first three...but Hate Me! remains one of the most captivating songs I've ever heard...everytime I die = little gem mid-tempo, kissing the shadows = blast, mask of sanity = well, mask of sanity...something wild 8.5 hatebreeder 9 follow the reaper 7.5 hate crew deathroll 7.5 are you dead yet 6.5...personally, I also like hate crew, while are you dead yet is very catchy but gets old quickly...

Dream Theater: entertainment and plastic art...
Opeth are innovative because they have succeeded in the very difficult task of blending 70s progressive music (and in the early albums a certain almost folk taste) with an increasingly intricate death metal... Meshuggah are amazing but after hearing Destroy Erase Improve, the rest falls quite short... except for the EP "I"...

I agree on the childishness of the percentage discussion. In the previous sentence, I specifically wrote I won't list the reasons. There are too many. About Opeth: extremely innovative in the metal scene and innovative in general... no one comes close to them (with a few sporadic exceptions like the first album by Disarmonia Mundi, which isn't even that close) even though they've been playing since the early 90s and released their first album in 1995...

I think in these terms... Tortoise, for all their importance (and I acknowledge their importance), belong to a genre, that of post-rock, which can be pleasant for some and literally annoying for others… I recognize the skill of these artists even if I can't stand them… The Tangent is extremely derivative, you’re right… but they truly manage to bring us back to the essential condition of '70s engaged music, that’s why I love them… Opeth creates music that no one else makes… influenced by different ways of playing, but more innovative than ever. Not even emerging clones can become true "clones" as the five Swedes play in a sublime and unmatched way. The reference to Revelation by SX, I must refute. I don’t find pleasure in mere instrumental exercises (in fact, I much prefer the direct solos of Jesper Stromblad from In Flames, rather than 95% of John Petrucci's solos that leave nothing). I prefer Ark to Dream Theater, just to be clear, and I won’t list the reasons. ark = 75% feeling 25% technique, dream theater (from the early days) = 45% feeling 55% technique… plus, I’m 20 years old, I have plenty of things to listen to, in fact, I’m not rushing into jazz and classical so early, otherwise what will I listen to at 40…

Larrok, you keep acting all high and mighty... making ridiculous comparisons between post-rock bands and progressive-epic-power metal... and if I then make a comparison about obsession as a fundamental means of Morgion's proposal (Funeral Doom Death Metal) and Godspeed (Post-Mental Saws-Eternal songs that drive you to suicide-Rock)... you're showing a terrifying level of consistency, dear professor... to make it clear, I'm listening to Control Denied right now... and for all their technicality and directness, they have an expressiveness that I don't find in the chamomiles of Sigur Ros (because you probably like them ;) )... more humility, guys... we're all music enthusiasts here, with different backgrounds perhaps, but we have only to learn...

Technical and self-indulgent review, almost as indigestible as Spiral Architect... but detailed and passionate... a 5 to raise the 2 that was unintentionally given before... instead of talking about 7/8... let's talk about emotions... don't touch my Tool... because they are among the few bands that manage to combine genius with a strong commercial component... Romeo owes a lot to Malmsteen (whom I can't stand) so it’s better not to go overboard with the criticisms... while I agree with the judgment on the last Petrucci... post Scenes From A Memory... however, the things he has done with Rudess are very beautiful...
