In the cynicism that envelops me today, I can't help but ask all of you, don't you think that maybe kurt&neil were right when they said it's better to burn out quickly rather than fade away slowly? Let me explain: let’s take a look at the myths, the icons we've deified. Jimi Hendrix, at the peak of his career, dies from an overdose. Morrison, similarly. Joplin, likewise. Kurt suicide (apparently, although I always think it was the so "beloved" Courtney who had him killed, but that’s just a point of view…). Curtis (perhaps the most bitter suicide, his. The one that hurt the most, far more than Cobain's. Alice's two years ago, overdose. Barrett (what a shame, though...) overdose. Lennon taken out. In short, maybe it’s better to leave a beautiful, stunning mark and then disappear in the most "spectacular" way, even if it’s damn cliché, than to exist?

"I think it's dark and it looks like rain," you said, "and the wind is blowing like it's the end of the world," you said; "and it's so cold it's like the cold if you were dead," and then you smiled for a second.
"I think I'm old and I'm feeling pain," you said; "and it's all running out like it's the end of the world," you said; "and it's so cold it's like the cold if you were dead,"
and THEN YOU SMILED FOR A SECOND.
Sometimes you make me feel like I'm living at the edge of the world, like I'm living at the edge of the world, "It's just the way I smile," you said.

depressing. excruciating. they stab you in the heart slowly, until you burst into a river of tears. because it’s impossible not to read in Curtis's voice the fatal destiny that awaits him (which in a way has been inflicted upon him). beautiful review.
Pink Floyd The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

very personal ranking:
- The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
- Wish You Were Here (yes, and don't argue, I prefer this to The Dark Side of the Moon)
- The Wall
(then after The Wall, aside from the live albums, let's forget about what they did...)

Agreed on the cover with the first anonymous, beautiful (even if it's predictable, given the period in which it was published...), but what an ugly cover.

I know I'm digging my own grave by saying what I'm about to say, but... I've never understood why "The Dark Side of the Moon" is considered THE Album by Pink Floyd. Seriously? Okay, there are some great (not all, see "Money...") tracks, but, perhaps it's just me (most likely) not understanding a damn thing, but come on guys, at least you from db, admit that they’ve done much better...
The Who Tommy

I've always preferred Who's Next. I've never really liked rock operas (except maybe Ziggy Stardust, which I've rediscovered). In my opinion, Tommy is too contrived, too calculated. I don't know, beyond the beautiful, poignant story of Tommy, the wonderful music, the genius of Townshend (even though I personally prefer John Entwistle's work on the album), I can't see the record as something spontaneous. It's beautiful, but it feels too "by design" to me. I don't know, it's just a feeling.

Giov, you’re right (100% right)... it’s just that I’ve never had a thing for drummers... (what a dumb excuse)
