Aside from the simplicity of the songs, I realized what the issue is: Malakian's voice is too prominent. The uniqueness was Tankian's harmonized voice that contrasted with the "harder" sound of their music. I preferred it more when it was just him singing, having more freedom and therefore being able to allow for more vocal "flair." Here, it’s all harmonization between the two voices whenever Malakian isn't singing solo, from the first to the last song. What a pity, I still quite like it, but it remains their weakest. The first one was a gem, no doubt!

Anyway, feeling better, it's entertaining, the songs hit you like bullets and get stuck in your head, as usual with SOAD, but it seems like the four are a bit short on ideas... and the album ends up being a bit of a haphazard collage. There are some nice moments like Violent Pornography, Radio Video, Question, Cigaro, but when it comes to ideas and innovation, we are at zero. Too bad, I was hoping for some experimentation, for a turning point that never happened.

But fuck it!!! I’m not giving 20 euros for a piece of shit CD! And just think if it’s the fault of those who download! Once it was the same story, only back then there were copied cassette tapes; I never bought an original tape, so why wasn’t anyone talking about a crisis in the record industry then? Because the artists and record labels are just too greedy!! Come on, they have plenty of money, they’re not dying because of mp3s, they just need to lower their prices...
