Dark Tranquillity Fiction (Bonus Tracks)

It depends on what you are looking for... If you want a dry death metal album full of blast beats but also a nice dose of pathos... the first Skydancer... If you want an album where the riffs are basically built on mini-solos... the historic and for me the best, The Gallery... also full of emphasis and splendid... I don't adore The Mind's I... Projector is very light, hardly classifiable as death except for the vocals and some riffs... very atmospheric... Haven is very electronic, and full of groove... the last three are quite similar, but with different nuances... Damage Done seems more airy to me, Character has a lethal drive combined with a massive use of electronics (not a flaw at least for me), while this Fiction for me of the last course is the best, very dry, apocalyptic, electronics reduced to the bone... dry and straightforward songs, but with a decent variety in the pieces... a bit of a return to the violence of the origins, even if with the style consolidated in recent years... I would recommend The Gallery or Fiction... then you see...

but it’s me who’s being pedantic about this... the point is that no matter how much I try not to be, I love being statistical in selecting albums... you see, for me there are 5 albums rated 9.5, 20 albums rated 9, 100 rated 8.5... I will never give a 10 (I’m very much in the Ondarock spirit, unfortunately in this) so:
8.5 - 10 ----> 5
7.5 - 8 ----> 4
6 - 7 ----> 3
4.5 - 5.5 ----> 2
2 - 4 ----> 1
0 - 1.5 ----> 0
It’s me who’s obsessed :)

Indeed, Gene Hoglan is far superior. I've watched some studio solos of Adler and Hoglan and compared them. Lombardo, yes, he’s good, but I prefer Bostaph over him...let's say there's no comparison between the last Slayer and the last Exodus...6.5 for the first, 7.5 for the second...

Vote of confidence... I saw a jazz evening dedicated to Chet... at the 5 nights of Jazz in Bolzano... and honestly, I didn't hear anything of his... let me hold on to metal a little longer... there's always time for classical and jazz...
