Let's look at the bright side: the comments have finally come in. ;-)

We're in agreement that it's, alas, a pointless discussion. I guess it's the premises' fault. If I had already commented at the beginning like in the last post, I would have had little to say.

I repeat: you might be right if you knew at least some parts. But, otherwise, you cannot say that "they are just adjectives and nothing more," not knowing what they really want to convey. One could say that, then, for a good part of the reviews on the site, especially when one is unfamiliar with the albums, as in this case.

Thank you for the "visits," but I don't take the grades personally at all. The 4 for that of the Opal was just fine. The reasoning you provided is, in my opinion, incorrect, and I believe I have demonstrated that to you.

The moving "Green Eyes," the imposing and hypnotic "Find Me," "Divide & Conquer," which renders the entire career of Bad Religion superfluous, the stunning melodies of "Makes No Sense At All," "Flip Your Wig," and "Flexible Flyer" all leave one speechless;.... - "Money" has a memorable chorus worthy of the Clash, "No More Pain" twists my guts with its pain, "Dance Of Days" has an irresistible rhythm and melody; the best of the best is "Building," which starts restrained sending shivers down the spine before exploding into the final chorus (!!!I'M A FAAILUURE!!!)... - "Provisional" (though it is surpassed by the magnificent version on Repeater) and the beautifully dark "Promises" that encapsulates all the "fugaziana" art, music in constant metamorphosis..." Should I continue? I don’t know your age, and I haven’t taken it personally. However, if I tell you that I can give you dozens of examples of your descriptions with adjectives, you can't just dismiss it with "except for La Dusseldorf": it's denying the obvious, and, if I may say, a bit childish. Now you tell me that adjectives have nothing to do with it and that it's really a matter of writing. Well!

"What you give, you will receive." ;-) Look, I took the trouble to reread some of your reviews, and I could give you dozens of examples where you describe the pieces just as I do, and I would add, as many reviewers on Debaser do, with results that are naturally quite varied. We only have adjectives and metaphors at our disposal to convey a sound, a rhythm, when we don't want to or don't know how to rely on the grammar of music. We can only express sensations through them: the difference lies in how you choose them, how you pair them, and in some cases, how you make them clash. You can't say "they're just adjectives"; instead, you could say, "you chose the wrong ones," but then you should have known the album.

This is an opinion of yours that I respect but do not share. If that were the case, you shouldn't have given me even a 4. Instead, I have the impression that, even unconsciously, what could be called a "mirror vote" sometimes kicks in.

Festwaca, what you say is quite different from what you stated before, namely "that it is beautifully written" (your kind words...), but that you cannot stand track by track descriptions. It seems to me that by claiming that your friend's review "is more aimed at describing the overall mood of the album and was well disguised," you are somewhat grasping at straws. I don't understand why, instead, mine would be "self-serving." The very sentence you quoted should convey a bit of what you call "the overall mood," it seems to me.
