Gomez How We Operate

"These ghosts," Eduardo would say. An ectoplasm says it's one of the albums he’s been listening to the most this summer (try "Notice" at twilight) and, despite its apparent simplicity, it deserves careful listening.
Ben Ottewell's voice is one of the "new" ones that I like the most. I would also be cautious with the "Brit" label. There's a lot of America in these compositions, especially country. And, in any case, losing a band like this due to poor sales would be a real shame. I not only understand some small concessions, but I also justify them. Ah, it also serves as a response to the good odra. ;-)

Trell, I share your enthusiasm and I have to say that it’s one of the recent groups I hold most dear. Maybe the first two are the best, but there isn’t a single album of theirs without a song worth framing. The latest one seems to be of high quality, but I need to listen to it again.

Let's go for a September "Burchfield Nines" then. I just bought it on CD again recently. We'll draw lots, of course. As for H&O, for the '70s I'd say "Abandoned Launcheonette" and for the '80s I would also say "Private Eyes."

Everything is clear, then. I just wanted to tell mopaga that "lack of scientific basis" can become "aberrant." Not long ago, such arguments were used as "evidence against" in courtrooms.

One of the limits of written communication is the fact that it doesn't fully convey what is known as "paraverbal." Mopaga's reply, which I hope I’ve misinterpreted myself, makes me fear that I’ve delivered an unfortunate remark, but that was my intention. Far from me is the idea of finding myself in the aberrant and positivist physiognomic interpretations of Lombroso. The real ugly faces, echoes Mopaga, are not found in those neighborhoods you mentioned, and certainly not only there.

For the mission, I see it a bit tough, and anyway, don't count on my incompetence.. ;-) Of course, her picture says a lot. It's one of those cases where it's actually hard to disagree with the much-criticized Cesare Lombroso. :-))

Ale, you've been mulling it over for quite a while, I think. It seems we already talked about it at the end of one of my (XTC?) pieces. I've already confessed the sin of being a fan of the duo myself, especially their work from the '70s and early '80s. So, I couldn't possibly just leave you hanging at this moment. The review is very enjoyable and balanced, although I would have some reservations about giving it the highest score. P.S. I see you mentioned Michael Franks. He's also out from Debaser. If either of us were to, in a moment of self-destructive impulse, decide to write something about him, it might be wise to get in touch with a bodyguard agency. :-) How about "Sleeping Gypsy" or "Burchfield Nines"?

Inclusion, at this point, seems obvious to me. However, since space is starting to run low in my case—don't know about yours—a little climb up the hybrid's back to check things out would still be on my to-do list if I were you. ;-)

A warm greeting and a kiss to Gabri. How are you? P.S. Speaking of "mathematical rules," like all the others, this one has its exception: when someone posts abundantly in others' reviews, without this resulting in a significant increase in comments on their own. ;-)

In that case, dear odra, one would need to face, to ward off any danger, an uphill climb on the back of a classic mule. :-)
