Ian Dury New Boots And Panties

great kosmo.
totally agreed. that's what I thought as well. it's fine that he wasn't super famous in Italy, but the fact that the review got so little commentary really surprises me (in a negative way). I hope someone is prompted to dig deeper. by the way, besides the fact that the music was of good quality, he was a truly interesting character. I'm currently reading a nice biography, "Sex and drugs and rock'n'roll: the life of ian Dury" by a certain Richard Balls. I remember the first time I saw ian Dury was on Tube, that legendary, much-missed English program, broadcasted by Videomusic when it was still possible to see good music on television.

But where's the review? These fanatical fan things leave me perplexed. Also, because if one truly loves music, one can't have just one album that stands above the rest, given that the history of rock is full of various masterpieces.

Nice rec. I would love to hear it. Yes. But how do you do it? Is it available for download? On Soulseek?
Embrace Out Of Nothing

Well, I heard it by chance. I don't see any connection to Britpop, frankly. This is sappy and stale chart junk. And, what's more, it's super recycled. The fact that in late 2004 people are still making stuff inspired by Coldplay is spine-chilling.

uhm probably the truth lies in the middle, it’s certainly not a masterpiece but it’s not a bad album either. it’s a good product from a band that has given a lot and from which we can't always expect a masterpiece or a musical turning point. they do their thing and they do it well.

I have this one. I've always had a strange relationship with Skylarking. Beautiful, filled with good melodies but perhaps a bit spoiled by overly clean production. A slightly too perfect record. I agree with your thoughts on the 80s. The list of great bands that emerged in the 80s is remarkable: Pixies, Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Smiths, Sonic Youth, Cure, New Order are just the first that come to mind.

Great thinwhiteduke. Finally. We also need to break a lance in favor of NME. It is always accused and vilified when people forget that NME is aimed at English teenagers, and if we put it in that context, we should really build a monument to NME for promoting music that is more than acceptable, as well as passing on the music of the past to teenagers while here the average kid listens to Tiziano Ferro and similar nonsense.

Nice review. Really interesting. Also because I've faced the same issue, meaning I would like to write more negative reviews that are equally useful and interesting. The problem is that often when I buy a CD (or download), I go almost with a safe bet. If I buy them, it’s because they cost a lot, and if I download them, it’s because if I don’t like it, I stop downloading the album after 3 or 4 tracks and don’t download the whole thing. So I often lack the desire to listen more than to review low-quality material.

I agree.

I don't know, I can't get into it either. All those big guitars, the somewhat pathetic melodies. It really sounds like it's thousands of years old.
