Suicide, Pan Sonic... Minimal electronics with chilling Industrial echoes. It might interest me, great review and suggestion.

Listening with the purpose of sampling also presupposes a pleasure in listening to the music that is then, possibly, sampled and reused to create something new. But are you really one of those staunch defenders of "bass, guitar, and drums, everything else doesn't exist"? One of those who back in the day claimed that Kraftwerk produced "non-music"? I truly hope not ;-)

Well, you only know 5, so I urge you not to jump to hasty and arrogant conclusions about a world that you ignore almost entirely. And who says that someone who listens to Rap shouldn't also listen to Miles Davis? I have friends who are beatmakers that, despite producing the type of music you don't prefer and that you label as "minor," listen to and sample everything from Funk to Soul to Jazz to old Rock to Latin, including Bossanova, soundtracks, etc... What do you say, shall we finally debunk this myth of Rap as an ignorant genre?

Thank you kosmo, the feeling is mutual :-) Italian rap? Neffa, Deda, DJ Gruff, Sean, Kaos, OTR, Colle Der Fomento, Chief & Soci, La Famiglia, 13 Bastardi, Next Diffusion, L300, Uochi Toki, Goedi & Medda in the first place, and others in a much more marginal way. Rap in Italy is a genre that unfortunately I find quite in decline Ucca, especially since the b-boy circle began to expand and fill with kids in baggy pants emulating various Eminem and two-bit gangsta-rappers. The 8 Mile generation, in short ;-)

Rap is a genre for angry American teenagers: a conclusion you must have reached after listening to Company Flow, Cannibal Ox, Non Phixion, Lootpack, Jurassic 5, Dilated Peoples, Cali Agents, Gang Starr, Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul, ATCQ, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, the Artifacts, Blahzay Blahzay, Brand Nubian, Digable Planets, Queen Latifah, Jigmastas, Organized Konfusion, Group Home, Jeru The Damaja, KRS-One, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, MC Shan & Marley Marl, Mobb Deep, Trigger Tha Gamble, Smoothe Da Hustler, NWA, Cypress Hill, House Of Pain, Grandmaster Caz, Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force, Eric B & Rakim, EPMD, Masta Ace. Or admit that you stopped at Eminem and 50 Cent and made them the emblem of a world you know hardly anything about? ;-)

But look, no doubt, coincidentally I'm just listening to "First Album" by Miss Kittin & The Hacker :-)) Moving the little foot (and a bit more) above everything.

especially for those who don't play and may be used to more accessible sounds, but also for those who don't have a particular predisposition towards technicalities ;-)

But you see, I Love, you have a completely different background, and it’s normal that you’re more inclined to appreciate classic sounds, where the focus is on technique and the instrumental skills of the individuals. I started listening to Rap at the tender age of 11-12, and I find Soul, Funk, and 70s Jazz more in tune with my way of being. Classic Jazz eventually bores me, I admit, and that’s why I think it’s fair to consider figures like Maceo Parker a good starting point before possibly moving on to something more canonical or more experimental, that’s all.

More commercial funk? Do you consider the Meters commercial? Maybe you're lacking a bit of knowledge; at most, you could talk about funk as a genre closer to those with a particular predisposition for certain "modern" sounds. Anyway, commercial or not, who cares? If it's well-made music, it's welcome. For example, I like Kylie Minogue's second-to-last album with "Can't Get You Out Of My Head," just imagine...

100% agree. Ucca we have very similar tastes, and I just sent a nice little review about it; hopefully they'll publish it soon. I'm not revealing the album title and keeping the suspense ;-)]
