AA.VV. A Clockwork Orange / Music from the Soundtrack

Walter Carlos, the man who modernized the use of Moog and synthesizers, sampled and praised even by the Unni and Visigoths. You could at least have mentioned him ;-)

Unfortunately, Rap is branded as a purely adolescent genre because the media only highlight and give prominence to phenomena like the above-mentioned pseudo-Rapper (I wouldn't even call him an MC, that would be an insult to Grandmaster Melle Mel, the Furious Five, Soulsonic Force, Rakim, and any other true MASTER OF CEREMONY). There is speculation about Americanisms, gangster poses, and themes that, let’s face it, can only appeal to a purely under-20 target predisposed to a certain type of sound. There are characters who delve into the more mature and cultured side of the genre, both in Italy and abroad, but they occupy marginal positions in the most widely circulated television shows and industry magazines, and for this reason, they remain relegated to a niche audience. As long as things continue this way, we will always have to expect Mondo Marci-like figures exalted by critics and the public, purist rockers who will label my favorite genre as music for teenagers, and honest artists who will operate in absolute anonymity. That's life...

For an album like this, I believe every comment is superfluous, an absolute masterpiece in the history of Rap, just like the follow-ups "The Low End Theory" and "Midnight Marauders." "Mr. Muhammad," "Luck Of Lucien," "Youthful Expression," "Can I Kick It?" are now legendary tracks, to be recited from memory like biblical psalms. Kudos for reviewing one of my all-time favorite groups! :-))

I clearly agree with the good QZ, the worst festival in the last 10-11 years except for a few rare exceptions (Deasonika, Zero Assoluto, Gianluca Grignani, Alex Britti, Ameba4). A soporific hosting with a tired Panariello, guest appearances that were all about "take the money and run," and an abundance of rhetoric and feel-good nonsense. Truly a forgettable edition.

I would add a PARAPPAPPAPPAPPARA in the style of Pippo Baudo :-)

I agree with LER0, "Music For..." is a masterpiece of madness and raw wickedness, although I might be more attached to the Happy Hardcore of "Experience", which is very Love Parade :-)

Yes Mike, he is one of the most valid representatives of the Underground Rap from the late '90s, already a member of the Ultramagnetic MC's (by the way, the phrase "Change my pitch up/Smack my bitch up" is sampled from one of their super-famous tracks "Give The Drummer Some"). If you're interested, check out his works, very electronic and experimental, like "Black Elvis/Lost In Space" released under the name Kool Keith, or "Octagonologyst" and "First Come, First Saved," insane parts of his alter-egos Dr. Octagon and Dr. Dooom, or the project "Masters Of Illusion" with Motion Man and Kutmasta Kurt on the productions. That's all! :-)

Their work that convinces me the least among those I have listened to, in my opinion, is incomparable both to the masterpiece Dub "Suzuki" and to the varied and original double "Delhi 9". A bit "out of time" ;-)

Will there come a day when the world understands that HIP-HOP is not just a music genre? I hope so, confidently... As for the artist in question, I believe I’ve already expressed my thoughts; just visit his website to understand what kind of character he is and how much he exploits tired and clichéd American stereotypes, filtered in a cartoonish and childish way. I appreciated his first single "Tieni Duro" back in the day, followed by two albums that I find questionable, perfectly aligned with Milanese standards, miles away from the Rap I prefer. I can't even get close to the album in question; the single, the video, the graphics, the photos, the poses, and the topics discussed are enough to send me running away, heading towards much better places (Dodici Hertz, Menhir, 13 Bastardi, Microspasmi, among the best things released in recent years). Fans of the American style will already be shouting miracles and proclaiming the future of Italian Rap, while I can only continue to feel disheartened and truly hope for a better future. Rating for the review and for the pseudo-artist.
