Daft Punk Musique Vol. I 1993-2005
Voto:
I don’t love Greatest Hits albums, and I believe that for a band like Daft Punk, a deeper understanding is necessary, which means buying their first two albums “Homework” and “Discovery” on a blind buy basis. The only positive notes about this collection, in my opinion, are the inclusion of the full version of "Musique" (B-Side of "Da Funk", as Giorgio recalls, only available until now via P2P or on 12”) and the 3 concluding RMXs, but I repeat, really little to justify a purchase. What do I recommend instead for "Daft Club" ;-)

For me, it remains her most successful album so far, on par with the more recent and equally intense "Lovers Rock." "The Sweetest Taboo" is a timeless gem, well done Grass :-)
Sade Love Deluxe
Voto:
For me, her "Promise," which I own on vinyl, remains an absolute Pop masterpiece, on par with the underrated yet excellent "Lovers Rock" (the Neptunes remix of "By Your Side" was one of my favorite tracks of that era). By the way, the cover of "The Sweetest Taboo" by Les Nubians featuring the Roots is also very beautiful and refined ;-) Of the aforementioned "Love Deluxe," I've only listened to a few scattered tracks; I'll try to track it down. Along with some painful ivory :-))
Electric Light Orchestra Out Of The Blue
Voto:
The fact that it’s included among the 100 Rock albums to avoid only makes me want to buy it more, considering that 90% of the works that most purist rockers end up snubbing usually fall into my favor :-) I don’t mind ELO at all; on the contrary, I would mention among their must-have works, besides the aforementioned "Out Of The Blue" and "Discovery", also "Time", released in 1981 and heavily influenced by Synth-Kraftwerk-style Electronica.
Darondo Let My People Go
Voto:
I would also add "Sweet Sweetback's Badaasss Song" by Melvin Van Peebles, "Black Belt Jones" with Jim "Afro" Kelly, and "Coffy" and "Foxy Brown" with Pam Grier aka Da Hot Chick :D I only have a few singles by Darondo and I agree with your definition: he is Funk personified. I will get this interesting collection, once again thnx 4 the recommendation ;-)
Mike Ladd Negrophilia: The Album
Voto:
The great Mike Ladd, congrats Nick! :-) I don't own the album you reviewed, but he's still an artist I adore, ever since his appearance in the visionary "Bladerunners" with Company Flow and the beautiful "Gun Hill Road" released under the name Infesticons. By the way, for all crate digging and sampling enthusiasts, he was among the first to raid the irresistible drum grooves of CAN ;-) A review that deserves a standing ovation, this one is also among the recommended.

From what I've read in the excellent review, I don't think it's for me, although it's always worth a listen ;-) QZ, am I wrong or are you becoming a cosmic rocker and psycho-addicted? Return to your roots! :-))

Ah, so you’re really well-stocked :-) Just in case you don’t have them yet, I highly recommend "Soundpieces: The Antidote," the debut album by Lootpack (the duo that Madlib is still part of, alongside Wildchild), released in 1999 and in pure raw underground style from the late '90s, as well as the beautiful "Secondary Protocol," Wildchild's solo album with quite a few productions released by Madlib and his brother Oh No! (that’s his actual name) :D

My favorite U2 album, I’d say around 4/4.5 ;-) Great review, even if it’s a bit long.

...which I actually have an original of :-) Do you also like his productions closer to Rap ("Soundpieces" by Lootpack, "The Unseen" by Quasimoto, the now legendary Madvillain project with MF Doom)? Hi dear
