I agree with the opinions expressed by the good Soc. The term "protest," often associated with a musical genre like Rap, is not just a synonym for "shouting violently one's dissatisfaction." One can protest in various ways and forms, as our dear compatriot reminds us, and who better than a collective like the Native Tongues, always opposed to the stereotype of the rapper with bling and fancy cars, can be seen, paradoxically, as countertrend? Or the courage of pioneers like Sugarhill Gang, the primordial connections of Rap and Electronic music by Afrika Bambaataa and Newcleus, and the list goes on... The attitudes of Rap as music-of-protest, in short, are incredibly varied and multifaceted, and reducing them to a simple "raising one's voice at the microphone" seems truly limiting to me. ;-)

It seems to me that they mix "Hazzy" flavors and cultured club sounds in an excellent way, offering a product that is absolutely balanced, enjoyable both at home and in trendy clubs... But yes, these are just opinions ;-)
