The New Mastersounds This Is What We Do

The New Mastersounds!! What year is the album from? I own some of their tracks on a beautiful compilation of rare grooves, "Keb Darge Presents Funk For The 21st Century".. By the way, "Zambesi" was already covered back then by another Black group, all grooves and irresistible rhythms, the Fun Company.. Hey :-)

For the record, "Pastime Paradise" has also been covered by Ray Barretto and sampled by Blue in "Streets Of My Life." Truly one of the most sampled pieces in the history of music!

For me, a piece like "I Wish" can fit perfectly, even today, in any club selection without sounding outdated at all, just like the entire album, still the greatest masterpiece ever created by Mr. Stevie Wonder, on par with "Innervisions." Rece doppione, but still excellent. Congratulations, Paolo :-)

From the opening of the review, I would have thought I was coming across an Industrial/EBM group from the late '80s, instead they are much more recent... I will seek them out, thanks for the interesting suggestion.. ;-)
The Strokes Is This It?

Sorry, I like them because I wouldn't have "the mental categories to be able to experience a different reality that would give more intense sensations..."? It seems to me an incredibly wrong generalization, forgive me...

Why is giving one star to "Ok Computer" a punishable offense in some obscure state of planet Earth? Just like for the "untouchables" Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple? Sometimes I struggle to understand the mechanisms behind certain discussions and reasoning that feel preset and pretextual. Sure, at times the music criticism and the media, in general, exaggerate in considering bands like Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, or Interpol as saviors of Rock, but in my opinion, they are groups to praise for various reasons: first and foremost, for their great communicative power, which allows them to attract the younger generations of rockers not only to their listening but also to the discovery of their original influences. Furthermore, with their carefree tone, not too serious and "insider," they manage to be enjoyed also by those, like me, who are not viscerally passionate about Rock and a certain type of sound. Exalting them excessively in the eyes of some may seem ridiculous, while for others it can be ridiculous to criticize them pretentiously and at all costs; let's learn to respect the choices and tastes of every human being.

I like it, just like the following "Room On Fire".. Their music might be a Rock for a New York happy hour, but to me it sounds more than good.. As for the cover, this is the one for the American version, without "New York City Cops" (a victim of the scandalous American censorship post-9/11), while the one sylvian1982 is talking about is the cover of the European version of the album, which, on the other hand, includes the excluded track ;-)

Exactly, to be enjoyed on '80s revival nights in ultra-trendy clubs, or during prestigious happy hours in ultra-chic lounge bars. Or comfortably seated in an armchair.. :D
Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique

I would definitely say "Paul's Boutique" for its incredible relevance and ability to anticipate future stylistic evolutions of the genre and the entire following decade, but I also love "Ill Communication," their album that has always been most appreciated by the "Hip-Hop Headz," and the end-of-millennium experiments of "Hello Nasty." The choice is yours, gee! :-)
