The "niggaz" won't listen to Jazz, but 90% of the samples come straight from those areas and from the artists you mentioned.. The Roots and the Digable Planets aren't contemporaries, as Gang Starr has been around since '89, and already in their first album "No More Mr. Nice Guy" there are interesting experiments like "Jazz Thing," which was also "borrowed" by Spike Lee for the soundtrack of "Mo' Better Blues".. I also really like the next two volumes that are more Rap-oriented, where Jazz becomes more of a mood than a true source of inspiration.. It could have used a few more words.. ;-)

A review that likely captures the images and feelings evoked by listening to the record, and communicates them to other "followers." Unfortunately, I am not among them, nor am I familiar with the album.

More than from Portishead listeners, this is an album that will find favor with fans of Roni Size, Goldie, and 4 Hero, thanks to the massive presence of Drum'n'Bass and "uptempo" rhythms in general. Their true masterpiece, the ultimate gem of a duo that has managed to enchant and surprise over the years. Truly magnificent.
