The remixes of "Playing The Angel" don't seem mediocre to me at all... Among the many, the beautiful and acid Motor Bass Remix of "Precious" is worth mentioning, as well as the equally great "reconstruction" of "John The Revelator" by Tiefschwartz...

More than defiled, I would say "remixed"... If it doesn’t change compared to the original, what’s the point of "reconstructing" a piece? ;-)

I, for "Useless", prefer "di brutto" the K&D remix... The collection doesn't group "some", but all those made from '81 to 2004, and it's also available in a single edition... By the way, the remix of "Barrel Of A Gun" (which is by Underworld, not just any old thing..) is one of the most beautiful in the entire collection...

By far inferior to "Mi Fist"... Only the single "Butta Via Tutto" and a few sporadic episodes stand out, while the rest is the usual rehash of worn-out clichés... They've probably had their time already...

In recent years, quite a few groups have emerged that blend Electronica with a more "electric" vibe: LCD Soundsystem, Chichinki, Hot Chip, Clor; just skim through the catalog of DFA (the label owned by James Murphy, leader of the same LCD Soundsystem) to uncover a lot of intriguing names, even in the volumes of the various compilations published by the same label...

By the way, Whitney Houston, in the early '80s, also appeared as a vocalist in "One Down," one of the most successful works by Material, the avant-garde project of the eclectic bassist Bill Laswell... One could truly say: another era...
