By the way, still staying within the scope, the films of Maurizio Merli are definitely the ones that excite me the least, with the exception of the aforementioned "Roma A Mano Armata" and the cult classic "Napoli Violenta"... There's surely better out there, starting from "La Mala Ordina (The Italian Connection)" by the great Fernando Di Leo, to "Milano Odia: La Polizia Non Può Sparare", a film that boasts illustrious admirers, including a "certain" Quentin Tarantino... The important thing is not to generalize, to free oneself from that snobbish aura of the intellectual critic, absolutely self-serving, and to learn to appreciate simplicity... That's all, folks.

I certainly didn't find it an amateurish film; on the contrary, it is directed and structured in a mature way, completely far from any genre film stereotype. By the way, Maurizio Merli stars in "Roma A Mano Armata," one of the films you consider "pathetic in every way"... ;-)
