Eli Roth is full of himself and Hostel is one of the most overrated films to come out in recent years. Far better are movies like Martyrs and Calvaire, where at least those "American Pie" vibes are absent, making efforts like this absolutely detestable...

Indeed, the ending left me puzzled. The second viewing helped me distinguish some things (it's all in his mind), there are a few inconsistencies (more or less) intended, but there's not much to do... It's a film that grabs me and surprises me. Rating: 3.5/4(!)
