If in 2005 they declared that "Rock & Roll Is Dead," what was the need to make another album? 😃 They probably had some bills to pay. I believe it's more dignified to pack it up and call it a day when there's nothing left to say (or sing or play).

Well, "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" and "Californication" are two great albums. I experienced the latter back in the day since I was a teenager, and then from the 2000s onwards, I stopped listening to anything from them. Usually, when Frusciante comes back, they release a great album: will it be the same this time?

Alas, I'm afraid this time I've missed the mark big time. She has given up her originality and recorded an album full of (Latin) American sounds that will sell a lot "en el extranjero," but sound rather inauthentic, less personal than "El Mal Querer." There are too many short tracks (they seem more like sketches than complete songs), superfluous features (Soulja Boy, the insubstantial James Blake), some plagiarism of Billie Eilish, even a bachata with The Weeknd singing in Spanish (perhaps one of the more "normal" tracks on the album). The lyrics teeter between trap/hip-hop self-celebration and the usual sermons about fame being "traicionera," etc... Something salvages itself, especially towards the end of the album, but I don't think it surpasses the threshold of mediocrity.
PS: too much autotune and too much post-production.
