I apologize for "generi:rock" but I couldn't find the cinematic ones; if someone knows how to solve the problem, please step forward ahah

Mh, look, I think I can agree with your observation even though overall I still believe I appreciated it more: the only gap I felt was the absence of a dramatic component regarding the relationship between the two brothers (which is reduced to a pitiful flashback, considering that Remo spends more than half of the film asleep). From this perspective, I would have perhaps taken up the strategy of The Passion of the Christ, which alternated flashbacks more frequently. So in the end, it’s hard to empathize with the characters imo, or in any case, their full potential wasn't exploited from this point of view.

Anyway, it seems to me that we agree when the film emphasizes the historical and atmospheric backdrop between primitive forests and atavistic rituals: I mean, those things drove me crazy, like seeing the customs and traditions of local populations. I would also like to add, I got chills from the reflection that extreme religious belief essentially gave the vestal an enormous superiority over others, they feared her, and she was able to use that to her advantage to save her own skin and Remo's (even though it seemed to me that the film leans towards the religious interpretation where the gods exist and the two brothers simply acted according to a predetermined plan).

Beloved, splendid.

Masterpiece, here more than in Divorce the feverish editing of the ending and the emphasis on the grotesque heighten the overall drama.

Embarrassing, yes, and morally slimy for blaming the victims of rape and all the stereotypes like the black man of Islamic faith who comes out of the sewers, but it cracks me up for the trash; it's full of gems, like the nymphomaniac who plants a rotten apple in the mall causing an old woman to faint, and certain script pearls: "Maybe what you don’t remember, perhaps you’ve forgotten it?"

When I recover from the vulgarity of the fishing scene, I will look at him.

Well, I don't like Queen, so I've been avoiding them like the plague for now lol

The last half hour is tough and moving (and the unyielding colonel has a certain Kubrickian quality in his cynicism).

A splendid film, able to unleash a maze of emotions from a very simple story (but it’s precisely the simplest stories in my case that captivate me the most). The close-up of Monika is stunning.

It remains a passionate and moving anthem to culture as a means of enhancing one's individuality.
