Truly astounding, commendable is the constant level of quality achieved thanks to the pursuit of the always perfect framing and the evocative soundtrack, aimed at emphasizing all the most important moments (no guys, seriously, the opening credits are orgasmic on their own) and the perfect symbiosis between classy action and philosophical reflections. In short, all expectations for Oshii have been more than confirmed; the only downside I see is the duration. I would have taken another hour to slowly unravel the various political intricacies and the characterization of the major; the background, characters, and story are so beautiful, so Noble that the involvement would not have suffered. Nevertheless, even in an hour and twenty-five, the essence of the story is addressed more than adequately.

Great review for an immense film that I should rewatch as soon as possible.

Great sleeps with this film (never happened before!) so much so that I had to break it up over several days; aside from its objectively historical importance in cinema, it remains, discounting a plot that's diametrically opposed to my personal tastes, monumental, with direction, cinematography, and actors in a state of grace.
The ending is epic, rightly entering History thanks to the two closing lines of the protagonists.

A beautiful blockbuster, unmissable for any self-respecting cinephile, but I won't watch it again XD

The kind of thing where my first glimpse of this chilling masterpiece was terrifying, me standing outside a packed classroom, head tilted to the side to catch a glimpse of that little strip of television, and knowing that tonight Iris will air it and I will finally be able to enjoy it properly has been making me orgasm since this morning.

A true masterpiece, with a gracious Kon at the helm, absolutely sublime editing and drawings, a brilliantly crafted storyline, and a nice plot twist (even though it’s quite easy to figure out given the hints the director scatters throughout the viewing). The touch of ambiguity with Mima in front of the mirror at the end is excellent, perfectly aligning with the character’s schizophrenia. A brilliant thriller.

For me, it is an absolute masterpiece that transcends its portrait origins to elevate itself to a work of art thanks to the clever touches that that absolute genius Leonardo managed to imprint on it: the sfumato in the background, aimed at representing a natural and realistic overall vision, the movements of the torso, hands, and arms that eliminate all rigidity, and that ineffable sensuality that emanates from the eyes and smile, palpable yet indecipherable in words. Taste and delicacy, all inherent to Leonardo, which I find completely lacking in the Madrid copy and the Raphael substitutes.

It made me feel so, so sad... only to warm my heart in the end. Wonderful, my favorite of Wilder so far.
