Hopper is aware of photography, and his paintings are photographs in terms of framing and geometric choices (elements that also make photography itself not "real" anymore). I wouldn't define his painting as realistic; rather, it proceeds through synthesis (eliminating many details). I find it more comparable to De Chirico's metaphysical style than to a strictly realistic painting.

Superb double album, "Impulse!" has released many excellent records, and this is one of them. "Encuentros," "India," "La China Leoncia Arreo la Correntinada Tarjo Entre la Muchachada..." (disc 1); "Para Nosotros" and "Juana Azurduy" (disc 2) are timeless gems, and with the rest of the tracks, we are always and nonetheless at the highest levels.
