Well, well, if it's as you say, I should expect a high-level Woody, although I actually like it even when it's at a "low" level.

Well done! You almost make me change my mind about the nerve-wracking (for me) repetitiveness and predictability of Scorsese's gangster movies.

"Ultimately, Scorsese always makes the same film about gangsters, from 1973 to today." I agree and add that it has somewhat dried up for me.

I adore Polanski!

Well dear Count, your passionate reviews are always worth reading; I need to inform myself about the album. The bluesmen you compare it to are great, truly exceptional guitarists, and I love something about them, but I often find their blues to be less "demonic" compared to other bluesmen who are less technical or less inclined towards technicality. Anyway, I will listen to it as soon as possible.

Nice review, but there are some inaccuracies; for example, "John the Revelator" was never played by him before this album, and these versions of other songs from his old repertoire sound quite different, to the point that some of these were also played with a band in their early versions, while here Son is with just his guitar or, as you aptly put it, sometimes with just his hands. However, aside from these little notes of mine as a devoted "professorino" of House, the review oozes passion, one of those ingredients needed to make good blues, which is required of a good listener of the genre. This CD reissue is nothing more than the masterpiece album "Father Of Folk Blues" with the addition of a few tracks that were left out of the '65 version.

Interesting.

Rece is, for me, much more beautiful than the album ;). It’s a genre that leaves me completely indifferent. I’m always for de gustibus, to the point that I’ve never loved either dark, new wave, or gothic, so you can understand if this album doesn’t excite me either.

Great review. I remember hearing the album when it came out; I found it pleasant but nothing more, but I have an old memory.

I need to watch it again; I wasn't convinced during the first viewing. Excellent reception.
