Meat Puppets Meat Puppets II

That pixies are ten spans above J.Lizard is nonetheless your opinion, which I do not share :-) If it's true that singing "well" is relative, in my opinion their out-of-tune songs are less impactful than they could be... and I'm particularly referring to Meat Puppets II... for example, I much prefer Kurt Cobain singing their three tracks from that album... Have you heard "Oh, Me" by Rare Meat? I find it distinctly better in terms of vocal performance compared to the original.

xHUGONIOT: yes, I have other albums of theirs... why would you want to deny the objective fact that he sings like a dog? come on... if you listen to some live performances on YouTube, you can clearly hear that he can’t sing, even in the songs that are perfectly in tune on the album. A typical example of how their songs are better when sung differently is the version of "oh me" on "rare meat"... look it up on YouTube and then tell me... PS and make sure you know that I love less technical singers, e.g. David Yow from J.Lizard or J.Mascis, but in my opinion, the out-of-tuneness has to be done in the right way at the right time, meaning according to the type of song...

It contains all the interesting and innovative elements of the MP with the added benefit, and I don't see it as a flaw at all, of greater ease of listening... and finally a singing that can actually be defined as such...(the bored voice is fine but the second album, in my opinion, is completely marred by the singer's awful voice...)

Instrumentally, it’s a great album... the tracks are, or rather would be, excellent if it weren't for the voice that, in my opinion, ruins everything... songs like "oh me" and "lake of fire" need to be sung, perhaps in a particular/bored/dragging way but not out of tune from start to finish as happens here... what a pity, it could have been a 5-star album but with a singer.
Ligabue Ligabue

I first appreciated Ligabue's albums many years ago... it's certainly popular rock, but quite convincing and direct... the same could be said for the early Vasco Rossi, whom I now deeply hate.

Setting aside that the album is a 3.5 and that I quite liked it, I would like to highlight what I believe to be its main flaws and would appreciate your opinions on this: compared to the previous albums (I’ve listened to their self-titled and a couple of splits), I find the production rather rough, almost subpar, with a sound that lacks definition. The instrumental guitar phrases and the quite complex musical structures of the previous albums are stripped down to the bone, and since these were, in my opinion, what stood out the most in the earlier albums, something seems to have been lost... on the other hand, the lyrics in Italian are very impactful, but I believe the overall work, as good as it is, remains inferior to its predecessors...

POETIC DISK WITH GREATLY VARIED AND WELL-ARRANGED COMPOSITIONS. THE SOUND MAY SEEM A BIT OUTDATED AND THE WHOLE IS PERHAPS A BIT LONG-WINDED, BUT IT REMAINS A SMALL MASTERPIECE OF A RECORD.

MAYBE TODAY THE SOUND OF THE RECORD SEEMS A BIT OUTDATED AND NOT VERY ROCK...ANYWAY, A TIMELESS CLASSIC.

WATERY POP DISCO, SOMETIMES INSIPID (MASK, SEXY DREAM). SOME TRACKS COULD BE DECENT BUT ARE RUINED BY A FLAT SOUND, WITHOUT BITE AND BY SHALLOW, HASTY ARRANGEMENTS (NEW RISING STARS, TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR YEARS) OR BY PATHETIC LYRICS AND VOCAL INTERPRETATION (MY BODY CHANGING FOR EX). WORTHY IS "LIVING MY TIME" BUT OVERALL A FORGETTABLE ALBUM.
