I think that a true vacation is actually about doing nothing, but meant as "I do a bit of what I want, when I want, and how I want." I've always hated the ritual of "going on holiday" with all the preparations, traffic jams at the toll booths, bookings, and various hassles; that is not a vacation, it's masochism.
