ZZ Top ZZ Top's First Album
Voto:
Well, the sound of Lynyrd Skynyrd, for example, besides the Allman Brothers, owes a lot to the early albums of ZZ TOP, including this one. ZZ TOP is part of that circle of bands that I like to define as typical American rock, meaning the conservative kind, tied to tradition, blues, country, boogie, often coinciding with southern rock, but not necessarily southern, like CCR for instance. "Genuine and straightforward music," as you put it yourself, and the feeling you get when listening to them is exactly that. Then in the '80s, they somewhat abandoned their roots, with mixed results.

So far, only 4. I confess I was expecting something more from the metalkids. Have they only sent a small scouting party to test the waters before the INVASION?

Sure, but you come in here all nonchalant and without even introducing yourself, like a "hey everyone, I'm new here, this is my first review and blah blah blah"... and for heaven's sake, show a little courtesy! Alright, just kidding, welcome and remember UP THE IRONS!!!
Deep Purple Live In Stuttgart 1993

Good job. I have this double CD. A great concert, perhaps one of the best from what was the last tour of MK II. Good setlist, Ritchie quite in shape, Ian Paice excellent. Gillan so-so; in Child In Time here he doesn't convince me much, more than high notes it seems like yelling, however where he doesn’t have to push too hard he does excellently. Anya is really great, also for Blackmore's splendid introduction, then she does something similar also before SOTW. The riff of Burn in Speed King was a nice surprise. Anyone's Daughter is better than the studio version. I agree with those who said too many live albums, considering that just on this tour they released first Come Hell Or High Water, then Live in Europe 1993, which is a 4 CD box set with this concert and the one at the NEC, then the two concerts as separate albums. All in all, it's a big mess; if they had just released this from the start, it would have been the best thing.

I often turn to cereals too. Usually, only millet and oats respond.
