Well done, great analysis, and they’re quite a nice group. In America, there’s this phenomenon of early '90s nostalgia that has brought forth some pretty good bands in the wake of early Pavement/Guided By Voices' "Alien Lanes"/Yo La Tengo, like LVL UP or Hooking Up.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

They are one of those groups that have accompanied me through every phase of life, even when I was a stupid fourteen-year-old metalhead/fundamentalist.

The best of that Shitgaze scene. Currently, all the most relevant bands, those that had something to say well beyond the hype followings, have all become bourgeois (in the good sense - yes, it's hard to find) of the term; in fact, Times New Viking are making even more valid records.

To call them monumental is to belittle them.
Il Teatro Degli Orrori Il mondo nuovo

A world of shit. They can only perform at the annual parties of the Famiglia Cristiana editorial staff.

I can't handle this hard prog, I swear I tried, but then I had to listen to "Wearing Yr Smell" and "Junior" ten times in a row each. Not that I expect them to make the music they did twenty-plus years ago, huh. Of course, we're still going to Livorno to see them anyway.

Lookout!, Asian Man, and Fat Wreck Chords in any life worth being called such!

You’re right when you say that they, beneath the annoyance, have a nice compositional talent. Along with Psychedelic Horseshit, they were the high point of that stuff called Shoegaze. I mean, does it really hurt to call it independent or alternative Rock? I think in 1992 they would have called it that and easily stacked it next to the records of Pavement, Superchunk, Pollard, and the gang.
