Alright, I'll say it: DT are the classic band that appeals to those who don’t understand a thing about music. The wankers, those people. Them and Queen.

I care about you, you understand music but with the Mogwai you miss the mark. I think it's too simplistic to reduce them to mere copycats of the Slint sound and similar; yes, it's instrumental rock ("post") but, if you listen closely, it has different characteristics... the Slint sound is leaner, less "progressive," very American—by "American," I mean those '90s guitar bands with a comparable sound, like June Of 44, Fugazi, Slint, etc. The Mogwai, to make it short, are much more of a "soundtrack" kind, if you will. And come on, their debut is universally recognized as one of the best albums of the past decade... lastly, live, they blow the minds of flying sparrows. And this, you will agree, is no small feat. They really know how to play.

God bless the older brothers. God bless vinyl records. Oh yes, because many, many years ago, it was thanks to the black record of "In Search of..." from my older brother that I dedicated myself to the cult of Hawkwind. I didn't know about this tribute; I jumped out of my chair. Rece and hilarious links.
