Black Lips Arabia Mountain

For me, in the garage realm, album of the year. And in the year of garage records, I've listened to a ton. This is pop, punk rock, son of a bitch, fast, Ramones-like to the core (how right you are). Castlemania by Oh Sees was nice, but Help is something else. Regarding new releases, I recommend: Catholic Spray - Amazon Hunt, weird psychotic garage from France; Diarrhea Planet; the latest from Mikal Cronin, Skip Jensen, and Jacuzzi Boys (the latter very similar to the Lips).

INTRODUCTION: I haven't listened to the album yet. But, judging by the numerous negative comments, I'll do it soon... I have the feeling it's quite a nice album.
This is a stupid review. Unfortunately, I fear we will have to get used to stupid reviews of the album in question. Stupid because:
1. Reed "talks, talks, talks..." well, if you're so surprised, it seems you don't really know Lou.
2. Ulrich never uses double bass, only mid-tempo, etc... you still don't get it. Maybe I understand though: you're a young metalhead (from ’92, right?) and maybe it's better if you don't listen to this album.
3. This is an important thing, which someone has already said/written around: Reed's albums cannot be separated from the reading of the entire textual apparatus. Just listening to the music, as I suspect most of you do, distractedly in mp3 - maybe chatting on fb, right GHIGNO92? - is like watching a movie without audio. When you understand this, you will be able to speak your mind.

At the name Marillion, I almost had a little meltdown! But I’m here mainly to give you a big hug and a warm welcome back!! You are my favorite little nitpicker...

5 balls no no no... I'd say 3.5. They've become bourgeois, but they still have a decent talent that allows them to write those 3-4 great tracks.

Once the heroin was gone, they became streetwalkers. Disgusting.

What a great group, the Loop. What a name, too. I mean, every piece they produce goes BAM.

I hadn't read this. Psychedelic shoegaze? Added to the list.

I’m scared too. I loved them too much. For me, along with Motorpsycho, they were one of the best "things" of the 90s. The first 3 albums will remain in history. After that, a bourgeois band with too much craft. I fear this album will be the same. The review is nice: welcome back VortexSurfer...

immensely underrated group. The few who make post-rock an "emotional" genre. Always great albums. I haven't listened to this one yet; it's on my shopping list. Precious mention.
